On a recent podcast, Divya Dutta opened up about the idea of love and emotional intensity, responding to a question that drew parallels with the kind of passion often associated with Rekha. The veteran actress is considered an icon by many – be it her onscreen roles or her aura off-screen. People always have also appreciated her candidness many a times when she’s made public appearances. In a recent interview, Divya was asked if she can ever love like Rekha. During the conversation, YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra pointed out how Rekha has always been expressive about her admiration for megastar Amitabh Bachchan. He referenced moments like her visibly joyous reaction when Bachchan won an award, as well as her affectionate gesture towards his grandson Agastya Nanda at the screening of his debut film Ikkis. He then asked Divya, “Is intensity par kabhi aap nahi gaye? Ki koi nahi hai phir bhi hai (Have you ever felt this kind of intensity – that someone exists, even when they are not there?)”
Without directly naming Rekha or commenting on her personal choices, Divya offered a more reflective take on love and relationships. The Chiraiyaa actor suggested that when a relationship has no clear future, it may be wiser to let go.She said, “Mujhe lagta hai intensity hui bhi ho toh use phir chhod dena padta hai (I feel that even if that kind of intensity happens, you eventually have to let it go). Women, especially, are very emotional. Detach karna bahot mushkil hota hai aur jab breakup hota hai (Detaching is very difficult, and when a breakup happens)… I think usey phir chhod dena chahiye.”She concluded her thoughts by recalling a poignant couplet by Sahir Ludhianvi as she said, “Woh kya kehte hain… ‘Voh afsaana jise anjaam tak le jana na ho mumkin, usey ek khoobsurat mod de kar chhod dena chahiye (That which cannot be taken to its destined end should be given a beautiful turn and then let go).”
